First timetable 1998

The Central Yoga School is a recognised Iyengar Yoga Institute. It was established in 1998 and runs classes, workshops, retreats and teacher training exclusively in the Iyengar Yoga tradition in Surry Hills, near Central Station. James Hasemer is the backbone of the school and has propagated his passion for Iyengar yoga through his consistent teaching for more than 25 years.
Classes were initially run from a shiatsu college on George Street in Haymarket, close to Central Station. Between 1999 and 2007 the school was located at Buckingham St, then the corner of Devonshire and Holt Street, and from 2008 we have been situated at our Cooper Street premises. Today most of the teachers at the school have come up through the Central Yoga School’s teacher training apprenticeship system and have been certified via Iyengar Australia’s rigorous teacher assessment certification process.
